In commemoration of its 125th anniversary, iconic luggage brand Rimowa has launched the “Seit 1898” travelling exhibition. Currently gracing Tokyo, this mobile showcase is set to make stops in New York, Shanghai, and the brand's birthplace, Cologne.
The exhibit mainly flaunts suitcases that are fruits of collaboration with renowned artists or those belonging to illustrious clients of the brand. It's a rare sight to behold cases once owned by Patti Smith, Pharrell Williams, LeBron James, and even Emilie, known from "Emily in Paris."
Emilie De Vitis, the Senior Vice-President of Product and Marketing at Rimowa, shares, “There's emotion in this. People take such pride in their cherished Rimowa cases that they were eager to lend them for the world to see.” De Vitis humorously notes that some owners even forgot their belongings inside the suitcases, truly emphasizing how intertwined the brand is with personal journeys and stories.
For aficionados of both fashion and history, this exhibition offers a unique lens into the world of luxury travel and the brand's unwavering commitment to craftsmanship over the years.
